These are a few of our favorite things.

At Wee Warhols I love to introduce children to new mediums.  The more comfortable they become with them, the more confident they become.  Then they are able to explore the materials on their own to create freely.

  1. One of my all time favs are Twistable Slick Sticks. They are oil pastels that go on smooth and are so vibrant in color.  The handle keeps their hands somewhat clean and they are so easy to work with.
  2. Sculpey Clay is a wonderful clay that bakes hard.  An essential addition to this craft is the following to make it malleable and lots of fun:
  3. Pasta / clay rolling machine

  4. Liquid Water Colors are so easy for kids to use.  Do away with the hard cakes that muddy and go with this!   Although the metallics seem so enticing, they seem to collect at the bottom and I have not been as impressed.
  5. A decent watercolor paper
  6. A good card stock paper from Office Depot, wether it is small unruled or larger.  The thicker the paper the better for all types of projects.
  7. Sharpies are wonderful.  They are so often not allowed to use them in the home… for obvious reasons, but in a controlled atmosphere they work wonders.
  8. A good sensory material are the water beads from Dollar Tree.  You can find packs of them in the floral section. Put them in water over night and they will grow.  This offers tons of entertainment!
  9. Nature.  It is amazing what you can find out doors and create with: sticks, leaves, rocks….
  10. Recycle and Reuse.  Choose carefully, but if you collect some of your throwaways, I am sure you will be happy with what they can become.
